Slack

Post your board’s jobs into Slack channels, branded as your board. Choose which jobs and how often from inside Slack.

Post your board's jobs into Slack channels as they are published. Each post is branded as your board, with its name and logo, and every job links to its page on your board.

You connect a workspace in Cavuno. You choose channels, which jobs to post, and how often inside Slack.

The Slack integration is available on every plan.

Connect a Slack workspace

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack.
  2. Select Add to Slack.
  3. In Slack, choose the workspace and select Allow.
  4. Back in Cavuno, the workspace appears in the list with the status Not posting yet.

You need permission to manage your board's settings. Slack may also ask a workspace admin to approve the app. Org-wide Enterprise Grid installs are not supported, so install the app in a single workspace.

Post jobs in a channel

  1. In Slack, open the channel where jobs should appear.
  2. Type /cavuno and press Enter.
  3. In How often?, choose a delivery mode. See Delivery modes.
  4. Optionally, under Only these jobs, choose employment types, work arrangements, seniority levels, or categories, or turn on Featured only.
  5. Select Start posting.

The workspace in Cavuno now reads Posting to 1 channel. Repeat in each channel you want.

For a private channel, invite @Cavuno to the channel first, then type /cavuno.

Delivery modes

ModeWhat it posts
Every jobEach job as soon as it is published. This is the default.
Up to N a dayJobs as they are published, until the day's limit (1 to 1,000). Jobs over the limit are skipped, not saved for the next day.
Daily digestOne message a day at the time and time zone you choose, showing the newest jobs since the last digest, up to the number you choose (1 to 20). If there are more, the message says how many and links to all jobs on your board.

Each job card shows the job title, the company, the location, the salary when it is set, the work arrangement, and a View job button.

Manage channels from the Home tab

Open the Cavuno app in Slack and go to its Home tab. It shows channel setups with their delivery modes, filters, and when they last posted.

  • Edit opens the same form as /cavuno, so you can change the delivery mode or filters.
  • Pause stops posting for now. Resume starts it again.
  • Stop posting removes the channel. Posts already in the channel stay.

You can also type /cavuno in a channel that is already set up to edit, pause, or stop it.

If you rename a channel, Cavuno picks up the new name automatically.

Who can change channels

The person who added the Cavuno app to the workspace and the workspace's admins and owners can set up and change channels. Anyone else who types /cavuno is asked to contact one of them. Other members can still see the channel list on the Home tab.

When posting pauses

Cavuno pauses a channel when it cannot post there:

  • the Cavuno app was removed from the channel
  • the channel was archived or can no longer be found
  • the app was removed from the workspace

When a channel pauses because of the channel itself, the person who set it up gets a direct message from the Cavuno app with Resume and Stop buttons. On the Home tab, the channel shows Paused with the reason. Fix the cause, such as inviting @Cavuno back to the channel, then select Resume.

If the app was removed from the workspace, select Reconnect from the workspace’s menu in Cavuno, then resume your channels from the Home tab.

Disconnect a workspace

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack.
  2. Open the workspace's menu and select Disconnect.
  3. Confirm.

Your board stops posting to that workspace, and its channel setups are removed. If no other board uses the workspace, Cavuno’s access to it is also revoked. To connect it again, select Add to Slack, then type /cavuno in each channel to set posting up again.

Manage in Slack in the same menu opens the Cavuno app's Home tab.

Troubleshooting

The workspace shows "Not posting yet"

No channel is set up. In Slack, type /cavuno in the channel where jobs should appear.

The workspace shows "Disconnected"

The Cavuno app was removed from the workspace or its access was revoked. Select Reconnect from the workspace's menu. Then resume your channels from the Home tab.

The workspace shows "Reconnect needed"

Cavuno needs new Slack permissions. Select Reconnect from the workspace's menu and approve the updated permissions. If /cavuno asks you to reconnect, ask the person who connected the workspace to do this from the Cavuno dashboard.

/cavuno says to ask an admin

Only the person who added the app and workspace admins can set up channels. Ask one of them to type /cavuno in the channel.
