How to Organize Companies by Industry

Organize companies by market, industry, or location.

AJ
By Abi Tyas Tunggal and Jack Walsh

Markets help organize companies into categories, making it easier for job seekers to browse.

What are markets?

Markets are categories that group companies. They could be:

  • Industries: Tech, Healthcare, Finance, Retail
  • Locations: San Francisco, New York, Remote-first
  • Company types: Startups, Enterprise, Agencies
  • Specializations: AI/ML, E-commerce, SaaS

How markets are assigned

Markets are generated by AI when you add a company. The system analyzes the company details and assigns a market category based on industry, focus area, or location.

You do not need to manually assign markets. They are created and updated to keep your board organized.

How job seekers use markets

On your public board:

  • Companies page may show market filters
  • Job seekers can browse companies by market
  • Market pages show all companies in that category

Benefits of markets

  1. Better organization: Companies are grouped logically
  2. Easier browsing: Job seekers find companies in their industry
  3. No manual work: New companies are categorized for you
  4. Consistent categorization: AI applies the same logic across your board
