How to create job posting pricing plans

Set up job posting prices and create different pricing tiers for employers.

AJ
By Abi Tyas Tunggal and Jack Walsh

Job board pricing plans define what employers pay to post jobs on your board. Most job boards offer tiered pricing with single posts ($99-299), bundles (5-10 posts at a discount), and monthly subscriptions for high-volume employers.

Before you begin

Make sure you've connected Stripe first.

Access pricing settings

  1. Go to Board settings in the sidebar, then click the Monetization tab
  2. Scroll to the Pricing Plans section
  3. You'll see your existing plans or an option to create new ones

Create a pricing plan

  1. Click Add Plan
  2. Enter plan details:
    • Name: What employers see (e.g., "Basic Job Post")
    • Type: Single job post, bundle, subscription, or free
    • Price: Amount to charge
    • Currency: USD, EUR, GBP, etc.
    • Description: What's included
  3. Configure plan features (see below)
  4. Click Save

Currency and pricing notes

Cavuno supports all currencies available through your Stripe account. Some currencies like JPY, KRW, and other zero-decimal currencies don't use decimal places — the form validates this automatically and requires whole numbers for these currencies.

Plan types

Single job post

Charge a flat fee per job posting. Each purchase gives the employer one active job slot.

Example:

  • Basic Post: $99
  • Featured Post: $199 (with extra visibility)

Job bundles

Offer discounts for multiple posts. Set the number of active job slots included in the bundle.

Example:

  • 1 Job: $99
  • 5 Jobs: $399 (save $96)
  • 10 Jobs: $699 (save $291)

Subscription plans

Charge monthly or annually for a set number of active job slots. Jobs expire and free up slots for new postings.

Example:

  • Starter: $199/month (5 jobs)
  • Professional: $499/month (20 jobs)
  • Unlimited: $999/month (unlimited jobs)

Free plans

Let employers post without payment. Useful for launch promotions or community boards.

Plan features

Each plan includes configurable features that control what employers get:

Active job slots

The number of jobs an employer can have published at the same time. For single job posts this is always 1. For bundles and subscriptions, set the number of slots included.

Job duration

How many days each job stays live before expiring. Common durations are 30, 45, or 60 days. When a job expires, the slot frees up for subscriptions (but not for bundles or single posts).

Featured jobs

Featured listings get prominent placement on your board — highlighted on the homepage, in search results, and on category pages.

To include featured jobs in a plan:

  1. Set the Featured jobs count to the number of featured slots included
  2. Choose a Feature selection mode:
    • Automatic: Jobs are automatically featured when posted, as long as featured slots are available. If all slots are used, new jobs are posted as standard listings
    • Manual: Employers choose which jobs to feature after posting

Feature limits enforcement

Plan limits are enforced automatically. For example, if a plan includes 3 featured slots and the employer already has 3 featured jobs, new jobs won't be auto-featured even if the plan has auto-feature enabled. The job is still posted — it just won't be featured.

Setting competitive prices

Research your market to set the right prices:

Factors to consider

  • Your niche: Tech jobs command higher prices than general jobs
  • Traffic volume: More job seekers = more value for employers
  • Competition: What do similar boards charge?
  • Your audience quality: Specialized audiences are worth more

Pricing by niche

NicheTypical 30-Day PostPremium/Featured
General/Entry-level$50-150+$50-100
Tech/Engineering$200-400+$100-200
Healthcare$200-350+$100-150
Executive/C-Suite$400-600+$200-300

Pricing strategy

Start lower, then raise prices. When launching, price 20-30% below where you want to end up. Once you prove employers get qualified applicants, raise prices.

A common tier structure:

  • Basic ($99-149): Standard 30-day listing
  • Featured ($249-349): Homepage placement, highlighted in search, included in email alerts
  • Premium ($449-599): Social promotion, newsletter feature, extended duration

Managing plans

Edit a plan

  1. Find the plan you want to change
  2. Click Edit
  3. Make your changes
  4. Click Save

Note: Changing a price doesn't affect existing subscriptions.

Disable a plan

To stop offering a plan without deleting it:

  1. Find the plan
  2. Toggle it to inactive
  3. Employers can no longer select it

Delete a plan

  1. Find the plan
  2. Click Delete
  3. Confirm the action

Note: You can't delete a plan if employers have active subscriptions using it.

Best practices

  1. Start simple: Begin with 1-2 plans, add more as you learn
  2. Offer value tiers: Give employers options at different price points
  3. Test pricing: Don't be afraid to adjust prices based on demand
  4. Communicate value: Explain what employers get with each plan
  5. Consider free trials: Let employers post one free job to experience your board

Frequently asked questions

Pricing depends on your niche and audience. General job boards typically charge $50-150 per post, while specialized boards (tech, healthcare, executive) command $200-600. Start 20-30% below your target price, then raise once you prove employers get qualified applicants.

Both work well for different employer types. Bundles attract companies hiring for 2-5 roles at once and want a discount. Subscriptions suit staffing agencies or fast-growing companies with ongoing hiring needs. Start with single posts and bundles, then add subscriptions once you have repeat buyers.

Yes. Changing a plan's price only affects future purchases. Existing subscriptions continue at their original rate until renewal. You can also disable old plans and create new ones at different price points.
