Featured Job Listings

Featured job listings get priority placement and visual emphasis on your board. They give you a distinct product to test with employers who want more visibility; whether the placement supports a premium depends on your inventory and measured results.

Prerequisites

Publish at least one job that you can use for testing. To sell featured placement, connect Stripe and create a plan whose featured-slot count does not exceed its active-job count.

How featured jobs display

Featured jobs differ from standard listings in three ways. They receive a highlighted background, accent border, and Featured badge. They sort above all non-featured jobs in the feed regardless of posting date. And they receive a score boost in keyword and semantic search, so they surface first even when candidates apply filters.

Feature a job manually

1. Go to Jobs in the sidebar
2. Click the job you want to feature
3. Check the Featured job checkbox at the bottom of the form
4. Click Save changes

To remove featured status, uncheck the same checkbox and save. Manual featuring works independently of pricing plans.

Add featured slots to a pricing plan

To let employers purchase featured placement, configure featured slots on a pricing plan. You need a connected Stripe account first.

1. Go to Settings > Payments
2. Click Add Plan or edit an existing plan
3. Set the Featured Slots feature to the number of featured jobs included
4. Set the Feature Selection Mode to Automatic (jobs are featured on submission as long as slots are available) or Manual (employers choose which jobs to feature)
5. Save the plan

How selection modes work

Automatic mode: every job posted under the plan is featured on submission. If all featured slots are in use, the job is posted as a standard listing instead. No action required from the employer.

Manual mode: when an employer with available featured slots posts a job, a "Featured job" checkbox appears in the submission form showing remaining slots. If no slots remain, the checkbox is disabled.

Plan type examples

Single featured post: create a one-time plan with one featured slot in automatic mode. Each purchase gives the employer one featured listing.

Bundle with featured slots: create a bundle with 5 active job slots and 5 featured slots in automatic mode. Every job the employer posts is automatically featured.

Subscription with auto-featuring: create a subscription with featured slots equal to active slots in automatic mode. Slots free up when jobs expire.

Pricing featured listings

Featured listings receive more prominent placement than standard posts. Set the price from your actual inventory, employer demand, and measured differences in views, apply clicks, and applications rather than assuming a universal premium. You can also offer free standard listings with paid featured placement when that matches your acquisition strategy.

Verify featured placement

Use a test employer entitlement to publish enough jobs to exercise both featured and standard slots. Confirm automatic mode selects jobs until its featured limit is full, while manual mode lets the employer choose. Open the public board and verify the intended badge and placements, then unfeature or expire a job and confirm the slot becomes available again.

If a job is not featured

Confirm the job is Active, the employer still has a featured slot, and the plan's selection mode matches the expected behavior. Automatic mode stops selecting once its slots are full; manual mode requires the employer or operator to choose the job.

Example

For example, a plan with three active-job slots and one featured slot can publish three jobs, but only one is featured at a time. Expiring or unfeaturing that job makes the featured slot available to another eligible listing.

Troubleshoot missing placement

If the Featured badge does not appear after saving, reload the public board and check the job's Active status and the entitlement again. Compare the plan's Automatic or Manual mode before editing the slot count.
