How to Password Protect Your Job Board

Restrict access to your job board with password protection.

Password protection lets you restrict access to your job board, requiring visitors to enter a password before viewing content.

When to use password protection

Password protection is useful for:

  • Beta testing: Test your board with select users before public launch
  • Private boards: Internal job boards for employees only
  • Exclusive communities: Member-only job boards
  • Client boards: White-label boards for specific clients

Enable password protection

  1. Go to Board settings in the sidebar
  2. On the General tab, scroll to Password protection
  3. Toggle Enable password protection on
  4. Enter a password in the Password field
  5. Optionally customize the Message to your visitors
  6. Click Save changes

Configure the password

Setting a password

Choose a password that is:

  • Easy to share with authorized users
  • Not used for other accounts
  • Memorable but not guessable

Sharing the password

Share the password with authorized visitors via:

  • Direct message or email
  • Secure internal channels
  • Member onboarding process

Anyone with the password can access your board.

Customize the message

The default message shown to visitors is:

"This board is password protected. Enter the password to continue."

You can customize this to:

  • Explain why the board is protected
  • Provide instructions for getting access
  • Add your brand voice

Example custom messages:

  • "Welcome to our beta! Enter the password shared in your invite email."
  • "This is a private job board for [Company] employees."
  • "Members-only access. Contact us to join."

What visitors see

When password protection is enabled:

  1. Visitors arrive at your board URL
  2. They see the password page with your message
  3. They enter the password
  4. On success, they can browse the board normally
  5. Their access is remembered for the session

Disabling password protection

To make your board public:

  1. Go to Board settings > General tab
  2. Scroll to Password protection

  3. Configure the password
  4. Setting a password

  10. Best practices

  • Click Save changes
  • Your board is immediately accessible to everyone.

    SEO considerations

    When password protection is enabled:

    • Search engines cannot index your content
    • Your board won't appear in search results
    • No organic traffic will reach your board

This is expected behavior for private boards. When you're ready to launch publicly, disable password protection to allow indexing.

    Best practices

    1. Change passwords periodically if sharing with many people
    2. Use a dedicated password not used elsewhere
    3. Prepare for public launch by disabling protection when ready
    4. Communicate clearly in your custom message
