Employer directory

Your public employer directory helps job seekers discover companies and strengthens your board's SEO with unique company pages.

By Abi Tyas Tunggal and Jack Walsh

The employer directory is a public-facing page on your board that lists all companies with active jobs. Each company gets its own profile page, creating unique content that drives organic traffic and helps job seekers research potential employers.

How the directory works

Your board's employer directory is available at:

text
1
https://yourboard.com/companies

It displays:

  • Company logo and name
  • Summary description
  • Number of open positions
  • Market/industry tags
  • Link to the company's full profile page

Job seekers can search and browse companies to find employers that match their interests.

Company profile pages

Each company has a dedicated page at yourboard.com/companies/[company-slug] that includes:

  • Company description and details
  • All active job listings from that company
  • Company logo and branding
  • Links to the company's website and social profiles (when available)

These pages are indexed by search engines and rank for queries like "jobs at [Company Name]", driving targeted traffic to your board.

Market pages

When you assign markets to companies (see Company markets), Cavuno generates market-specific directory pages at:

text

https://yourboard.com/companies/markets/[market-slug]

These pages group companies by industry or market, creating additional landing pages that help with long-tail SEO.

SEO value

The employer directory creates real SEO advantages:

  • Unique pages per company, each with its own URL, title, and meta description
  • Structured internal linking between company pages and job listings
  • Branded search capture for "[Company] jobs" and "[Company] careers" queries
  • Market pages that rank for "jobs in [industry]" queries
  • Salary pages generated per company when salary data is available

All of these pages are included in your sitemap automatically.

Manage directory visibility

Companies appear in the directory based on two factors:

  1. Published status: the company must be published (see Add a company)
  2. Navigation setting: "Companies" must be included in your board's navigation

To check navigation settings:

  1. Go to Board settings > Navigation
  2. Verify "Companies" is included in the navigation order

Promote the directory

Use the employer directory as a selling point when pitching to employers:

  • "Your company gets a dedicated profile page on our board." Employers value the branding exposure.
  • "Your profile ranks in search engines." Organic traffic is a tangible benefit beyond the job listing itself.
  • "Job seekers browse companies, not just jobs." Some candidates research employers first, then look at open roles.

Link to the directory from your homepage, blog posts, and marketing emails to drive more traffic to company profiles.

Frequently asked questions

The employer directory is available automatically when you have companies in your database and 'Companies' is included in your board's navigation. Go to Board settings > Navigation to verify it's enabled.

Only published companies with active job listings or a complete profile appear in the directory. Companies you've added but not published won't be visible to job seekers.

Each company gets its own indexable page with a unique URL, structured data, and internal links to their open jobs. These pages rank for branded searches like 'jobs at [Company Name]' and contribute to your board's overall domain authority.

Yes. Assign markets to companies, and Cavuno generates market-specific directory pages automatically. These appear as browsable categories within the directory.
