Connect Meta Pixel

Track Facebook and Instagram ad conversions. Build retargeting audiences from visitor traffic.

Track visitors so you can build retargeting audiences and measure conversions from Facebook and Instagram advertising campaigns.

Before you begin

You need access to the Meta business and data source that owns the Pixel ID. Confirm which public board domain you will test and whether Cavuno's cookie consent gate should delay the pixel.

What Meta Pixel enables

  • Retargeting: Show ads to people who visited your job board but didn't apply or post a job
  • Conversion tracking: Measure which Facebook and Instagram ads drive job applications or employer signups
  • Lookalike audiences: Find new candidates or employers similar to your existing visitors
  • Audience insights: Understand the demographics and interests of your job board visitors

Get your Pixel ID

  1. Go to Meta Business Suite
  2. Navigate to Events Manager
  3. Click Connect Data Sources > Web > Meta Pixel
  4. Name your pixel and click Create
  5. Copy your Pixel ID (a numeric string like 123456789012345)

If you already have a pixel, find it in Events Manager and copy the ID from pixel settings.

Add to Cavuno

  1. Go to Settings in the sidebar, then click the Analytics tab
  2. Paste your Pixel ID in the Meta Pixel ID field
  3. Click Save changes

Cavuno adds the pixel to every page on your job board automatically.

Verify the installation

  1. Install the Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension
  2. Visit your job board
  3. The extension icon should show a green checkmark with your Pixel ID

You can also verify in Meta Events Manager. Page view events appear within a few minutes.

Troubleshoot missing events

If the helper does not find the pixel, confirm the saved Pixel ID is numeric and belongs to the data source open in Events Manager. Test the public board in a private window, accept the cookie banner when required, and retry without an ad blocker. If the helper finds the correct ID but Events Manager remains empty, use Meta's test-events view before changing or replacing the ID.

Create retargeting audiences

Once the pixel collects data, create these audiences in Meta Ads Manager:

AudienceUse case
All visitors (last 30 days)Broad retargeting to keep your board top of mind
Job page visitorsRetarget candidates who viewed specific jobs
Employer page visitorsRetarget potential employers who browsed pricing
Blog readersNurture content-engaged visitors toward your board

When cookie consent is enabled in Cavuno, the Meta Pixel only loads after visitors accept cookies. This reduces the activity available to Meta and can support a consent implementation, but it does not by itself establish legal compliance. Confirm the rules that apply to your audience, disclosures, and Meta configuration.
