How to Add LinkedIn Insight Tag to Your Job Board

Track LinkedIn ad conversions and build matched audiences from your job board traffic.

AJ
By Abi Tyas Tunggal and Jack Walsh

The LinkedIn Insight Tag tracks visitors to your job board so you can measure LinkedIn ad conversions, build matched audiences for retargeting, and see demographic breakdowns of your traffic through LinkedIn Campaign Manager.

What the Insight Tag enables

  • Conversion tracking: Measure which LinkedIn ads drive employer signups or job applications
  • Retargeting: Show LinkedIn ads to people who visited your job board
  • Website demographics: See the job titles, industries, and seniority levels of your visitors
  • Matched audiences: Create targeting segments based on pages visited

Get your Partner ID

  1. Sign in to LinkedIn Campaign Manager
  2. Click Analyze > Insight Tag in the left navigation
  3. Your Partner ID is displayed at the top — it's a numeric string like 1234567

If you haven't created an Insight Tag yet, Campaign Manager will walk you through the setup.

Add to Cavuno

  1. Go to Board settings in the sidebar, then click the Analytics tab
  2. Paste your Partner ID in the LinkedIn Partner ID field
  3. Click Save changes

Cavuno installs the Insight Tag script on every page of your job board automatically.

Verify the installation

  1. Install the LinkedIn Insight Tag Helper Chrome extension
  2. Visit your job board
  3. The extension should confirm the tag is firing with your Partner ID

Data takes up to 24 hours to appear in Campaign Manager.

Retargeting audiences for job boards

Once the Insight Tag is collecting data, create these audiences in Campaign Manager:

AudienceUse case
All visitorsBroad retargeting for brand awareness
Pricing page visitorsRetarget employers evaluating your plans
Job page visitorsTarget active job seekers with relevant ads
Blog readersNurture engaged visitors toward your job board

Website demographics

The Insight Tag unlocks a Website Demographics report in Campaign Manager showing:

  • Job titles of your visitors

Frequently asked questions

They're the same thing. The LinkedIn Insight Tag is the tracking script, and the Partner ID is the identifier that connects it to your LinkedIn Campaign Manager account. In Cavuno, you just add your Partner ID and the Insight Tag script is installed automatically.

Yes. The LinkedIn Insight Tag is part of LinkedIn's advertising platform. You need a Campaign Manager account to create your Partner ID and use the tracking data for ad targeting.

No. The Insight Tag tracks anonymous page visits and matches them to LinkedIn's audience data for ad targeting. You don't see individual visitor profiles — you see aggregate audience demographics and can create retargeting segments.
