Checkout Fields

Choose which buyer details Stripe Checkout collects for paid products on your board.

Choose which details Stripe Checkout collects from employers and other buyers on your board. You need a connected Stripe account before these settings affect live checkouts.

Billing address, VAT or tax ID, and business name stay under tax collection.

Prerequisites

Connect Stripe and finish onboarding so the board can accept payments. Decide which buyer details you need for fulfillment or support before you turn collection on, because required fields add friction at checkout.

Open checkout fields

  1. Go to SettingsProducts
  2. Open the header ... menu and choose Checkout fields

Phone number

Choose Don't collect or Required. Stripe Checkout does not support optional phone collection, so there is no middle option.

Use required phone when you need a reachable number for every paid order. Leave it off when email is enough.

Contact person

Choose Don't collect, Optional, or Required. When collection is on, Stripe Checkout asks for the buyer's individual name separately from the company or billing name.

Custom fields

Add up to 3 custom fields. Each field can be:

  • Text for free-form answers (PO number, cost center, referral)
  • Numeric for quantities or IDs that should be numbers only
  • Dropdown for a fixed list of options you define

When you add a field:

  1. Click Add field
  2. Enter a Label (Stripe derives the field key from the label)
  3. Choose the Field type
  4. For dropdowns, add at least one option
  5. Choose whether the field is required
  6. Click Add field, then Save on the sheet

After a field exists, you can only toggle Required or remove it. Label and type are fixed so existing Checkout sessions stay consistent.

What buyers see

On the next Stripe Checkout for a paid product on this board, enabled fields appear alongside Stripe's built-in payment details. Disabled fields do not appear. Custom field answers are stored on the Checkout Session in Stripe.

Verify checkout fields

Open a test-mode paid plan checkout and confirm each enabled field appears with the right required state. Confirm disabled fields are absent. For a dropdown, submit one listed option and one invalid path if you can, then check the completed Session in the Stripe Dashboard.

Next steps

Configure tax collection when you need billing address or tax IDs, and discount codes when you want promotion codes on the same checkout.
