AI website builder credits
Understand what uses AI website builder credits, when allowances refresh, how upgrades affect the balance, and how failed runs settle.
A
JAI website builder credits pay for AI-generated board builds and edits. Your current balance appears in Website builder. The allowance belongs to the board, because each board has its own plan.
What uses credits
A prompt uses credits when the builder runs an AI model or paid tool to generate or revise your site. The final charge reflects the work performed, so a longer build can use more credits than a small edit.
These actions do not use credits:
- Edits made directly with visual controls, without an AI run
- Opening or retrying a preview
- Sharing a draft
- Publishing or using Go Live after the version is ready
If you send a prompt asking the builder to change the site, that AI run uses credits even when your next action is to publish it. Publishing the finished version adds no separate credit charge.
Allowances and refreshes
Paid plans include a monthly allowance that refreshes on the subscription billing anniversary. A subscription billed on the 15th receives fresh credits on the 15th each month, including when you pay annually. Reset times follow the billing timestamp in UTC. If the anniversary falls on the 29th, 30th, or 31st and the month is shorter, credits refresh on its last day; the original anniversary returns in the next month. Unused plan credits do not roll over. Enterprise has an unlimited plan allowance.
Free has a monthly allowance that refreshes on the first day of each UTC calendar month, plus a daily limit. Its daily allowance refreshes at the start of each UTC day. A daily limit can stop another AI run even when the monthly balance still has room.
The builder reserves a small amount when an AI run starts and settles the actual charge when the run finishes. The displayed balance can therefore change again when a long-running task completes.
What happens after an upgrade
Your first paid subscription after Free starts a fresh paid-plan allowance. Converting an active Starter trial to a paid subscription also starts a fresh paid allowance, so trial usage does not reduce the new paid balance.
If you move from one paid plan to a higher paid plan during the same month, the month does not restart. Usage already recorded carries over, and the new plan's larger allowance gives you the difference as additional room.
For example, if you have used 10 credits on Starter and upgrade to Basic, the 10 used credits remain recorded and the Basic monthly allowance applies immediately.
Failed and cancelled runs
A failed result does not always mean no work was performed. A run can still use credits when the model or paid tools ran before a prompt, build, or verification failure. Failures identified as platform infrastructure problems are handled automatically where possible and may leave your visible allowance unchanged.
A queued follow-up that is cancelled before it becomes its own AI run releases its reservation. If a run fails and the balance looks inconsistent with the work shown, contact support with the board name, task, approximate time, error message, and the credit balance before and after the run. Do not repeatedly retry while the balance is unclear.
When the allowance is exhausted
The builder explains whether you reached a daily or monthly limit. For a daily Free limit, wait until the next UTC day. For a monthly limit, wait until the displayed credit reset, upgrade to a plan with a larger allowance, or buy extra credits if your paid board is eligible. See Plans and pricing.
Buy extra credits
Eligible paid boards can choose Add credits in Website builder and buy a pack with a saved card. If there is no card on file, enter your card details and choose Save card and continue. Complete any card verification requested by your bank, then wait for the purchase result before trying again.
| Credits | Price (USD) |
|---|---|
| 10 | $10 |
| 25 | $20 |
| 100 | $75 |
| 250 | $150 |
Purchased credits never expire and are used after your plan allowance. They remain on the board when its subscription ends. Free, trial, and sandbox boards cannot buy packs.
Automatic top-ups
When Automatic top-up is available, turn it on in Billing or the Add credits sheet to allow purchases from your saved card when your spendable balance reaches 5 credits or fewer. It is off until you opt in.
Choose the pack and monthly spending limit in Billing → Manage. The default limit is $40 per UTC calendar month; the limit is in dollars, not credits. Choose Unlimited only if you want no monthly spending cap. The cap covers automatic purchases, not packs you buy manually, and it does not reset when you upgrade your plan.
If a payment fails, automatic top-ups pause. Fix the payment method through Manage billing, then explicitly turn the automatic top-up switch on again. Editing the pack or limit alone does not resume a paused account. You can turn the switch off at any time; credits already purchased remain available.
