How to show recommended candidates to employers
Show employers the candidates who best fit a published job from board.me.companies.recommendedTalent.list, and let them shortlist with one click.
A
JOnce an employer publishes a job, Cavuno ranks the board's candidates who fit it, best match first, from the job's skills and title. Show that list on the employer's job page so they can find people to invite, and let them shortlist anyone with one click.
Recommended candidates are people who have not applied to the job, so this is a way to find new candidates rather than to sort applicants. Applicants stay in the applicant pipeline.
Load the ranked list
The board owner must first turn on Recommended talent in Settings → Features (it is off by default); it also needs job seeker accounts and the talent directory on. Check board.context().features.recommendedTalentEnabled before you show the section.
The call is company-scoped and private: pass the employer's session per request and never cache the response. The employer needs an approved membership of the company, and the job must belong to it.
Each item is { candidate }, where candidate is the same card the talent directory returns, so reuse your directory card component.
Render the items in the order returned. The order is the ranking: there is no score, band or weight to display or sort by, and the ranking cannot be tuned by the board or the employer. Do not build automatic rejecting, advancing or filtering on this list; the employer decides whom to shortlist.
Handle short, empty and draft states
- The list is a short top slice of the best matches, not everyone who matched. Only candidates who chose to be discoverable appear, and never anyone whose job-search status is
not_looking. - An empty
datapage is not the end of the list. Keep followingnextCursorwhilehasMoreis true, and show "No matches yet" only when there are no more pages. - A draft job raises
job_not_published, because only a published job can be matched. Show "Publish this job to see matches" instead of an error.
Shortlist a candidate
A talent list linked to a job is that job's shortlist. Saving a candidate to it shortlists them onto the job, and they show up in the job's pipeline at Shortlisted. A job has at most one linked list, so find it first and create it only when it is missing.
Show a "Shortlisted" tab from board.me.companies.talentLists.members.list on the same list, and use talentLists.memberships({ candidate }) to show which cards are already saved.
Verify the employer journey
Sign in as an employer with a published job, open its page and check that recommended candidates load, that "Show more" pages through nextCursor, and that shortlisting a candidate adds them to the Shortlisted tab and the job's pipeline. Then check the empty state on a new board and the draft-job message on an unpublished job.
