Paid checkouts often need more than a card. Purchase orders, cost centres, and a reachable phone number matter for fulfillment, but they are not tax settings. Buyer fields (originally shipped as Checkout fields) is the board policy for those commercial details.
Open it from Products
On Settings → Products, open the header ... menu and choose Buyer fields. The sheet sits next to coupons, paywall settings, and taxes.
Phone, contact person, and custom fields
- Phone number: don't collect, or require it (Stripe Checkout has no optional phone mode). Checkout only — never printed on invoices.
- Contact person: don't collect, optional, or required; when enabled, the invoice billing form collects it and prints the answer as Contact.
- Custom fields: up to three text, numeric, or dropdown fields with your own labels, shared by card Checkout and the invoice billing form.

Kept separate from taxes
For card Checkout, billing address, VAT or tax ID, and business name remain under Taxes. Invoice-only products collect billing name and address on their billing form. These details do not use custom-field slots.
